When it comes to sandwiches, it’s pretty hard to go wrong. I mean, who doesn’t like some savory meat with cheese, lettuce, and more between some great bread? The Triangle has definitely been on a roll (hah, get it?) when it comes to sandwiches, but one spot that may have slipped past your radar screen is Brooklyn Pickle. A small chain based out of upstate NY, Brooklyn Pickle opened up quietly in May of 2024 in the busy Market at Lake Boone Trail shopping plaza. I’ve been several times for lunch and always leave full and happy; if you’re a deli and sandwich aficionado, here’s why you should visit!

If you’ve never been to the Market at Lake Boone Trail, just be aware that the place gets busy. Between an office development and a row of popular small businesses, the parking lot fills up quickly. But take your time and circle the area a bit. There’s additional parking between and behind the office buildings, so be patient! As you walk on over, look for the green “Brooklyn Pickle” stencil at #120!

Inside Brooklyn Pickle, you’ll find a simple cafe setup with light woods and hints of green. Bare concrete walls give the space a basic and utilitarian feel. Work your way to the back where you’ll find the deli counter and cash register. A small refrigerator with cold drinks sits in the corner along with some Brooklyn Pickle merchandise.

Now Brooklyn Pickle is known for their over-stuffed sandwiches, and here’s where a bit of thinking is needed: the menu! Over the deli counter, review all the details in the menu, but take your time! There’s a lot available at Brooklyn Pickle in different culinary forms. Sandwiches on bread, rolls, salads, wraps, and a handful of desserts. There’s pastrami, corned beef, meatballs, and more, spanning a variety of classic deli options. Oh, and save some room for dessert and the classic black and white cookie that’s ever so popular in NYC!

While I’m usually more of a hoagie and roll type person for my sandwiches, I really like the bread at Brooklyn Pickle! It’s a wide loaf, and the slices have just the right density to hold the amount of toppings that come on the sandwiches here. From white to light rye and more, the bread really works perfectly for their offerings. Start with a chicken salad sandwich, which is over-stuffed with just the right amount of salad and topped with finely shredded lettuce, a lovely bite. Or go for the smoky pastrami sandwich, loaded with meat, lettuce, and a slice of Swiss!

I also adored the classic BP sandwich: corned beef, pastrami, lettuce, Swiss, and Russian dressing. On the 12″ hoagie roll, it ends up being quite the meal. And of course, you get a couple of pickle slices to counter-balance all the meat in their sandwiches.

And I do recommend doing a classic black and white cookie if you’re visiting Brooklyn Pickle. These large, cakey cookies are swaddled in both black, chocolate frosting and a white, vanilla frosting so you can enjoy two different flavors in your sweet. It’s a fun and unnecessary way to end your meal, but they are hard to find in the NC Triangle!

Brooklyn Pickle, Raleigh – Service, Conclusion
Overall, the service at Brooklyn Pickle has been good during my visits. It’s a pretty simple setup, and the employees are responsive. And while the parking may be a bit tricky at times, I’ve really enjoyed my visits to Brooklyn Pickle over the last year or so. We’ve got so many great sandwich and sub options now, but Brooklyn Pickle certainly holds its own in that department. And while they are a smaller, regional chain, with only three locations (Southern Pines, Charlotte, and Raleigh) in North Carolina, it still feels like a special treat to dine here. So rock on, Brooklyn Pickle! Another great option for sandwiches in this very competitive slice of restaurant dining.
