When it comes to beer bars in Raleigh, they seem to come in two flavors: smaller bottle shops or huge beer gardens with 200+ taps. So it’s nice to see an in-between option get built like the new Vault Craft Beer! From its design to well-curated beer list, there’s a lot to like about Vault Craft Beer and they continue to evolve since its opening. Get all the deets here…

This newer beer bar and bottle shop was years in the making. An old-school bank was renovated and in its place Vault Craft Beer offers a very thoughtfully designed space with lots of light woodwork and modern touches (bar stools, lighting, etc.) While the majority of beer bars and bottle shops are somewhat old-school, Vault Craft Beer stands out with its clean lines and light and bright interior, there’s a Scandinavian feel inside. Vault Craft Beer offers up four or five high top tables, 10 seats at the bar and a very large patio on either side of the building, one patio is covered for bad weather conditions. The location is pretty convenient, a block south of Sam Jone BBQ and a couple of blocks west from Red Hat Amphitheater. This neighborhood is mostly residential but there are some quirky food and beverage offerings for the area!

I’ve hung out at Vault Craft Beer and the experience has been pretty consistent. Good selection of beers on tap (across the spectrum of beer types) with a lot of locals hanging out for conversation and a neighborly hang out! Vault usually has a nice schedule of events, ranging from trivia night to movies, tap takeovers, live comedy, run club and more. They definitely try to provide entertainment options and are pretty creative with their offerings. They will also often have food trucks in their ample parking lot and do a good job finding some very interesting options! Grabbing dinner and a beer here makes a lot of sense if you’re looking for something more casual, keep up with them on Vault Craft Beer on Instagram for the details!

Vault Craft Beer, Raleigh – Conclusion

And the owners and bartenders are pretty cool here, usually good for some chit-chat and local news for the area. Overall while I’m not a huge beer person (wine-lover) I do enjoy my visits here and would certainly bring friends if I was looking for something a bit more relaxed and outside of the downtown Raleigh core. I think the vision for Vault Craft Beer as a modern beer bar and bottle shop is spot-on for the neighborhood and its future growth. So it’s only a matter of time before everyone catches on to this hidden beer gem on South Street!
