Given all the growth in the Triangle and the state, it’s interesting to see restaurant concepts from one city move to another. A recent entry to the Raleigh food scene is K38 Baja Grill from Wilmington, NC. When I heard it was to open at Seaboard Station I was curious. What exactly is a baja grill? Well after several visits I’ve got a pretty good idea of what exactly it is! A tasty and fun restaurant with beach vibes, cheerful decor and a lot more. Read on for all the details my foodie friend!
K38 Baja Grill, Raleigh – Location, Interior

K38 Baja Grill sits in a prominent location at the new Seaboard Station in Raleigh! Across from Omakase by Kai and Tous Les Jours bakery, this development has been an old-school favorite for Raleigh folks and I would expect the new Seaboard Station to be the same. K38 Baja Grill has a premium spot in the development, sitting in the front section on a busy corner.

You can’t miss the aqua, ocean motif at the front of the restaurant and inside, it gets even better. Soft browns, thatched, rattan lamps, and a beautiful ceramic tile bar in back highlight the K38 space. All the decor exudes a beach and surfer type feel to the space, very relaxed. And a great precursor to what you’ll be dining on!

K38 Baja Grill, Raleigh – Menu, Food
The menu at K38 Baja Grill qualifies as much American as Mexican in my opinion. Think chips, tacos, salads, burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, and more. You won’t find any odd meats here, just your basic steak, chicken, carne asada, ground beef, and shrimp. But despite the Americanized Mexican eats menu, I’ve always enjoyed my meals here. Start off with a basket of warm, lightly salted chips and some salsa as you decide on your meal.

The elote corn dip with onions and cilantro make for a nice, clean starter. Or just dive into the queso if you’re not watching your calories! But let’s face it, it’s hard not to enjoy most anything on a tortilla chip. I need to exhibit tremendous self-control to not work my way through an entire basket of tortilla chips at K-38!

For the mains, I’ve done a burrito and tacos. The Cali Carne burrito offers carne asada, onion, salsa fresca, french fries, and queso blanco in a tight little roll with a side salad. Love their Tacos in Beach Blanket which features pulled chicken or carne asada in a hard shell taco, queso, and soft tortilla wrapped around it all. The tomato and romaine lettuce means you’re not getting real Mexican eats but it’s all still so delicious and reminds me of the classic Taco Bell Double Stack taco which has been discontinued.

The sides at K38 Baja Grill are fine, the usual refried beans, black beans and Mexican rice make for a nice side with your mains! Overall I find the flavor combos and plating at K38 to be quite good, even if it’s basic.
K38 Baja Grill, Raleigh – Service, Conclusion
Service during my visits to the K38 Baja Grill bar has been top-notch and attentive. The bartender has been chatty, friendly, and efficient, you really can’t ask for much more than that. And despite my love of more authentic Mexican cuisine, K38 Baja Grill hits the spot for me for a quick lunch. Love the convenient location and the menu, while simple, never fails to satisfy me. So if you’re in the Seaboard Station stop on by for a meal at K38 Baja Grill! This growing chain still puts out very tasty Mexican eats that should please most palates. Even if it is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me!
